Obituary for Robert Justice Bloxsom, Captain U.S.C.G Ret.

Captain Robert Justice Bloxsom, 91, of White Stone died October 1, 2012. He was born on December 17, 1920 son of the late Alford and Marti Bloxsom. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia “Jinny” Bloxsom of whom he married in 1943 and his sister, Theresa.
As a youth, he was raised in Collingswood, New Jersey, always having an interest in the sea and with his father built a sailboat. Captain Bloxsom was active in scouting, earning his Eagle in the Boy Scouts and Quartermaster in the Sea Scouts.
During World War II, he served in the Merchant Marines. After the war, Captain Bloxsom served 24 years in the United States Coast Guard, retiring as Captain in 1974. After serving in many areas, including Virginia, North Carolina, Connecticut, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Arkansas, he and his wife retired to White Stone. Surviving are three children, Cherie, Pam and Rob; nine grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Captain Bloxsom and his wife, Jinny were active members of the White Stone United Methodist Church. He was a third degree mason and a member of the National Audubon Society. An avid woodworker, Captain Bloxsom built custom designed toys for disadvantaged young children.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at White Stone United Methodist Church, White Stone. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
