Obituary for Ted Bogle Newton

Ted Bogle  Newton
Lt. Colonel Ted B. Newton, 84, of Irvington, Virginia passed away on April 12, 2015 in his home due to a long battle with cancer.

Ted was born January 15, 1931 in Shelby, N. C. but lived most of his early life in Fort Mill, S. C. graduating from Fort Mill High School in the class of 1950. He was the son of the late John Lee Newton and Virginia Hames Newton of Fort Mill, S. C.

He spent most of his business career in Banking and with Bank Information Technology Providers to the Banking Industry. While in high school he joined the SC National Guard in Fort Mill, Company H where he earned his Commission to Second Lieutenant. He later moved to Lenoir, N. C. as a result of his business career and transferred to the U. S. Army Reserve where he rose to the rank of Lt. Col. He retired from the USAR with over 30 years service.

Ted is a graduate of Kings College, Charlotte, N. C., the Stonier Graduate School of Banking/Finance at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, N. J. and the Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., while with the USAR.

Ted was retired and resided in Tampa, Fla.for 15 years and three years in North Myrtle Beach, S. C. before moving to Irvington, Va. There he was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church.

Ted is predeceased by his son, Scott Hames Newton. He is survived by his wife, Mary Elaine Newton of Irvington; sons, Jeffrey Newton and wife, Beth of Markham,Va., and Len Newton of Kalispell, Mont.; grandson, Tom Newton; granddaughter, Tricia Newton both of Kalispell, Mont.; step-son, Craig Miller and wife, Lisa of Alexandria, Va.; step-daughter, Lauren McCann Davenport and husband, Bill of White Stone, Va. and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Resurrection will be said 11:00 a. m. Saturday, April 18, 2015 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Kilmarnock, Va.
