Nancy Norris  Foster (Norris)
Nancy Garnett Norris Foster of Irvington, Va., passed away on September 21, 2015. Born in Kilmarnock, Va. on March 20, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Sen. and Mrs. Robert O. Norris, Jr. of Lively, Va.. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, The Hon. Dixon L. Foster and her brother, Robert O. Norris, III.
Surviving are her children, Katherine F. Muller and husband, John, of Weems, Nancy F. Bennett and husband, Frank, of Poland, Ohio, R. Dixon Foster of Kilmarnock; her five grandchildren: Sarah M. Turnbull and husband, Ned, J. Lewis Muller, Jr., W. Dixon Muller, Caroline K. Bennett, and Franklin S. Bennett III; and her two great-grandchildren: Katherine C. Turnbull and Edward R. Turnbull, Jr.
Mrs. Foster was a graduate of St. Margaret’s School and The College of William and Mary. A lifelong Baptist, she was a dedicated member of Irvington Baptist Church for over 60 years, serving as a beloved Sunday school teacher, member of the WMU, and in many other capacities. Her love of history and Lancaster County prompted her involvement in The Garden Club of the Northern Neck, The Northern Neck Historical Society, the DAR, Colonial Dames, and many other organizations. More than anything, Mrs. Foster will always be remembered for her caring, unselfish nature and her genuine love of people.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 27th at 2:00 P.M. at Irvington Baptist Church, Irvington. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Irvington Baptist Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 417, Irvington, Va., 22480 or Rappahannock Westminster- Canterbury Foundation, 132 Lancaster Drive, Irvington, Va. 22480.
