Stirling Kerr Olsen, 99, passed away on November 19, 2016 in Irvington, Virginia. She was born in Arlington, Virginia on April 29, 1917.

She is survived by two sons, John L. Olsen (Karen) of Appomattox, Va. and Robert E. Olsen (Stella) of Chesterfield, Va. and three grandsons, Christopher, Jason and Jared Olsen. Stirling was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Lief O. Olsen.

A Bachelor of Science graduate from Mary Washington College in 1939, she chose to devote her life in service to family, art and her church. A life member of the Christ Church Foundation, she served Grace Church, devoting countless hours to volunteer work. A founder in the Seconds Unlimited Thrift Store, she helped to supply funds to the Rappahannock General Hospital. A pragmatic woman, stickler for word pronunciation and grammar, bridge player and accomplished water-color artist, she was a wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Memorial services will be held on February 18, 2017, at 12 Noon.
