William D. Campbell, 88, of Kilmarnock, formerly of Blacksburg and Chesterfield, died peacefully on June 8, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Elise Campbell; his wife of 38 years, Jean R. Campbell; brother John and sister Ovelene. He is survived by his children, William D. Campbell, Jr. (Elaine) and their sons Ben, Jordan and his son Landon; Cheryl C. Smyth (Mike) and their children Lauren Setliff (Adam) and their children Maxton and Marabella; Logan Smyth (Rachel) and their son Robert; and Lyndsay Cifers (Wesley).

Following enlistment in the U. S. Navy, he began his career with C&P telephone company, retiring after 41 years of service. He was an avid outdoorsman. Friends will remember Bill for his kind heart and generous spirit and especially for his love of God, country and family.

A funeral service will be held 7:00 p. m. Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Currie Funeral Home, Kilmarnock. Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p. m. prior to the service. Interment will be 2:00 p. m. Wednesday, June 14 at Dale Memorial Park Cemetery, Chesterfield, VA.
