Springfield, VA - Grace S. Grimes, 87, formerly of Lancaster, VA died July 28, 2017.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence E. Grimes Sr., of 48 years.
She is survived by two sons, Lawrence E. Grimes Jr. and wife Maria of Woodbridge, VA; Brian and wife Sharon of Alexandria, VA; daughter Cynthia G. Blevins and husband Bruce of Alexandria, VA; six grandchildren, Jason and Casey Grimes; Beth Mahon and husband Kevin, Alison Grimes, Bruce Jr (Tony) and Matthew Blevins; great-grandchild Eleanor Mahon and her sister Joanne Eudy Davis and husband Walter C. Davis Jr. of Alexandria, VA, among many nieces and nephews and extended family.
Grace lived in Alexandria VA where she raised her family with her husband Lawrence. Once all her children were raised, she returned to the workforce until she retired from the Federal Government and moved to the Northern Neck in Lancaster, VA. She loved her home and friends in the Northern Neck. Grace loved to garden, feed her birds, especially hummingbirds, loved to go boating and travel. She was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Women where she met and worked with many friends to help make a difference.
Grace was a beautiful loving wife, mother and friend. Everyone who met her connected and loved her giving and bright spirit. She will be deeply missed.
Funeral services will be held 11:00a.m. Saturday, August 12th at Bethel United Methodist Church, 142 Old Bethel Road, Lively VA 22507 with interment in the church cemetery.
