Obituary for Kevin Reid Lewis

Kevin Reid Lewis - Yorktown, Virginia
Kevin Reid Lewis, 62, passed away unexpectedly in the early morning hours of Saturday, February 24, 2018. He was known affectionately as “Santa Claus” in Cab #7. He was respected by his fellow cab drivers and loved by those who called on him for a ride. He enjoyed his friends and regular customers and always brought home interesting stories. Many people loved his Hawaiian shirts and when asked why he wore them, his response was, “I only work one night a year -the rest of the time, I am on vacation.”
He was born and raised in Norfolk, Virginia and graduated from Lake Taylor High School in 1973. He moved to the Northern Neck area with his parents to his grandparent’s old home place and lived there until moving to York County in 2001.
Kevin was a cancer survivor and he will be greatly missed by his “therapy” buddy, Gizmo, the family Shih-tzu. As a puppy 4 years ago, Gizmo helped Kevin get through his chemo and radiation treatments. Kevin loved his “buddy”.
He is predeceased by his parents, Eugene and Edith Lewis and his brother Brian Lewis.
He is survived by his wife, Diana and their daughter, Kaitlyn and his daughters, Kelly (Bruce) Scott of South Carolina, Jennifer (Jesse) White of Colorado and Leslie (Dave) Thomas of Texas.
He is also survived by his siblings, Charla Compton of Virginia and Blaine (Jill) Lewis of Tennessee, as well as two grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Morattico Baptist Church on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 11:00am with visitation with the family beginning at 9:30am. Graveside services and a fellowship luncheon will immediately follow. The church is located at 924 Morattico Church Road, Kilmarnock, Virginia 22482.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
