Obituary for George Leslie Wiley

George L. Wiley, of Irvington, Virginia passed away on March 9, 2018. He was born July 16, 1925, Philadelphia, Pa., to John A. and Helen B. Wiley, deceased and two older brothers, Rev. Ronald A. Wiley of Newtown, Pa. and John B. Wiley, Morrisville, Pa., both deceased; survived by his wife of 40 years, Mille B. Wiley; three children (two deceased); four step children; 13 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Mr. Wiley graduated from Cheltenham High School, Elkins Park, Pa. in 1943, attended Princeton University and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School in 1948, member of SPE, Signa Phi Epsilon Fraternity.

He enlisted in the U. S. Navy, May 1943 and was Commissioned Ensign, 1945 and served in Pacific Theatre, Philipines and Borneo. He returned to civilian life in 1946, but was recalled in 1949 to the Korean War and then back to civilian life later 1952 with over six years active service in the U. S. Navy.

Mr. Wiley was a lifelong Episcopalian, All Hallows Church, Wyncote, Pa. where he served on a number of vestries; All Saints, Richmond, Va.; St. Andrews, Irvine, Calif.; Peoples Warden, and Grace Church where he was a member since 1985 and served as Junior Warden for three years.

He was employed by Johns-Manville Corp. for 34 years as a sales representative , headquartered in Richmond, Va. from 1952-1971, Assistant District Manager, Philadelphia Dist. (incl. VA 1971-73), Sales Manager, West Coast District, Los Angeles, Calif., thru 1983. He retired and moved to Weems, Va. in 1985.

Mr. Wiley was a member of Home Builders Assoc. of Richmond, Va., VA Bldg. Material Assoc.- President, Producer's Council-AIA Richmond, Va. Chapter, Western Roofing Council, Asphalt Industry, California member, Roofing Contractors Assoc., Southern , Calif., Marshall, Masonic Lodge Lancaster Union No. 88; a member of the Northern Neck Shrine Club, President 2005, active with River Counties Chapter American Red Cross and served as Chairman of Disaster Services for 10 counties in the Northern Neck and Middlesex County.

Memorial services will be held 2:00 p. m. Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Grace Episcopal Church, Kilmarnock, Va.
