Obituary for Avalon Stevens Pittman (Stevens)

Avalon Stevens Pittman, 96, of Lancaster, Va. was born on October 30, 1921 in Ottoman, Va. She passed into the arms of her Savior on August 2, 2018. Avalon was the widow of W.R. Pittman Jr., and is survived by her son, Edward R. Pittman and his wife Joyce of Lancaster, Va.. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Travis R. Pittman and his wife Susan of Kilmarnock, Va., Tad E. Pittman of White Stone, Va., and Nell Marie Foulke and her husband Greg of Dublin, Oh., And her five great grandchildren: Eli, Trevor, McKenzie Pittman, August, and Ocran Foulke, and her sister Marion S. Ransone. She was a graduate of Lively High School and the nursing program at Sheltering Arms Hospital. A lifelong member of Corrottoman Baptist Church, she was active in the WMU until health issues prevented her from participating. Avalon loved to garden, crochet, and sew. A celebration of life service will be held at Currie Funeral Home, Sunday, August 5, 2018 at 3:00, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
