Obituary for Elwood Thomas "Tom" Turlington Jr.

Elwood Thomas " Tom" Turlington, Jr., 84,of Irvington, Virginia went to be with the Lord on October 15, 2018 with his wife and sister by his side.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mickie Veach Turlington; two daughters, Cheryl Lynn Adams (Brent) of Lexington, South Carolina and Sarah Martinez (Rudy) of Pensacola, Florida; a sister, Bonnie Pettey (Larry) of Irvington, Virginia; two stepsons, Lowell and Douglas White of Camden, Indiana; four grandchildren, Ember Thompson (Kyle) of Pensacola, Florida, Private Hunter Adams of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Bralyn Adams of Lexington, South Carolina, Dallas Martinez of Pensacola, Florida; two great grandchildren, Owen and Paisley Thompson of Pensacola, Florida and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Ella Mae Long Turlington; two sons, Edwin Andrew Turlington and Elwood Thomas Turlington, III; his parents, Elwood and Charlotte Turlington and a sister, Lois Powers Turlington.

Tom was active in Naval Masonic Lodge No. 24, FandAM in Pensacola, Florida and Haji Shrine in Pensacola, Florida where he was Treasurer Emeritus. He was also a member of the Eastern Star in Pensacola, Florida . Tom was an active member of Irvington United Methodist Church, Irvington, Virginia serving as their treasurer until his health began to fail.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p. m. Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Irvington United Methodist Church. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the Masonic service and the funeral service. The service will be performed by the Reverends Ray Massie and Jesse Blythe. A reception will be held in the church's educational building.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children , ACCA Temple, P. O. Box 1525, Ranson, WV 25438 or Irvington United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 178, Irvington, VA 22480.

Pallbearers will be Brent Adams, Thomas Dale Cockrell, David Thomas Cockrell, David Trimmer, Herbert Newcomb, William Cockrell, Wesley Clarke and Randy Ransone.
