Obituary for George Esler "Les" Inskeep

George Esler “Les” Inskeep, 92 of Kilmarnock passed away June 8, 2011. He was born December 25, 1918 in Wilmington, Del. and attended school there and in Michigan and Utah. He received a degree in Chemical Engineering from Penn. State College and a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Illinois, where during WW II he was employed in the Office of Rubber Reserve synthetic rubber program. He worked as a research chemist for Firestone Tire and Rubber, E. I. DuPont and Philip Morris from which he retired as a chemist and patent agent.
His volunteer activities included the Exploring Program of the Boy Scouts, and service to Historic Christ Church and the Audubon Society. His lifelong vocation was birding. He was a member of Wicomico Parish Church where he served as Treasurer, the Society of Sigma XL, American Chemical Society, Sons of the American Revolution and Indian Creek Yacht and Country Club.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Kathryn Hadley Inskeep; nieces, Mary Helen Inskeep of Minneapolis, Minn. and Catherine Aulick of Pittsburgh, Pa.; cousin, Marilyn Fischer of Cicero, Ind.
Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 18 at Wicomico Parish Church, Wicomico Church. Interment in the church cemetery.
