Obituary for Robert Henry "Bob" Keller Sr.
Dr. Robert “Bob” Henry Keller Sr. 82, died Saturday, March 23, 2019 at his home, surrounded by his family.
He leaves behind his loving Wife of 53 years, Louise; a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Bonnie Keller; his daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Kris Cornett of Tampa, FL; his son Robert H Keller Jr of Crewe, VA; his son Bill Keller or Richmond, VA; and 3 grandchildren Jack and Keller Berry and Kortney Plotski all of Tampa, FL; and many nieces and nephews.
He was born in Washington County, VA and was the son of Henry S. and Margaret R. Keller, both lifelong residents of the area.
In his early years, he helped on the family farm and worked in his father's grocery store. He continued working hard attaining his Eagle Scout designation and graduating from Virginia High School in 1953. He attended East Tennessee State college, finishing in 1958 and went on to attend Dental School at Medical College of Virginia, graduating in 1962. While living in Richmond, he met his wife, Louise and they were married in 1963.
After dental school, he was stationed at Quantico and served in the Naval Dental Corps. Following his service, he settled in Fredericksburg where he started his dental practice and raised his family. He was an active member of the Fredericksburg Presbyterian church, serving as an elder, deacon and clerk of the Session; member of the Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce; President of the Fredericksburg Kiwanis club. He was also very active in the Dental community serving as President of the Fredericksburg Dental Society; Co-chairman of the Northern Virginia Dental Society; Chief of Dental Service at Mary Washington Hospital; and was active member Virginia Dental Association. He also had his contractor’s license and was active developing commercial real estate projects.
Later in life, he and Louise moved to Reedville Virginia to enjoy retirement. He was an active member of the Saint Andrews Presbyterian church where he also serviced as an elder. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating and woodworking.
A funeral service will be held on March 30, 2019 at 11 AM at the Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church. There will be a private burial on Monday, April 1, 2019 at the Green Springs Presbyterian Church. The family appreciated the care provided by Hospice of Virginia and asks that in lieu of flowers, for a donation be made to Hospice.
