JOHNSON, The Rev. Charles L. “Charlie”, of Irvington, Va., died peacefully Tuesday, June 11, 2019. Charlie was born on July 30, 1937, in Four Oaks, N.C. and was ordained as an Episcopal Priest in 1966. He served as Assistant Rector in several Virginia parishes and as Rector of St. Paul’s, Haymarket, Va., St. Barnabas, Chesterfield, Va., Christ Church, Gardiner, Maine and Kingston Parish, Mathews, Va. In addition, he served as Assistant to the Bishop of Virginia and Chaplain to the Retired Clergy of the Diocese of Virginia. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Virginia “Ginny” Johnson; sons, Stephen Johnson (Tamara) and Paul Johnson (Lisa); granddaughters, Lindsay and Natalie; and brothers, Joseph and Larry Johnson. A service will be held at Grace Episcopal Church, 303 S. Main St., Kilmarnock, Va. on Saturday, June 15, at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Shrine Mont Conference Center, Orkney Springs, Va. or Rappahannock Westminster Canterbury, Irvington, Va.
