Ida Schreiner  Gallimore (Schreiner)
Kilmarnock - Ida S. Gallimore, 95, a longtime resident of Lively, passed away November 19, 2017 in the Alzheimer’s care unit of Commonwealth Senior Living in Kilmarnock.

She was a member of Kilmarnock Baptist Church. In retirement, she participated in charitable activities in Kilmarnock for many years. She was a long-time volunteer for the Historyland Community Workshop, contributing her creative crafts and rich fudge to the group’s fundraising events. She volunteered as manager of Rappahannock General Hospital’s gift shop for seven years. Ida graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in Journalism. She had a successful thirty-year career in advertising as a media buyer, retiring from Circuit City Stores, Inc. Her husband, Bob, retired from the Associated Press as Bureau Chief for the state of Virginia. Together they built their home on the Corrottoman and enjoyed “Rivah” living.

She loved sharing her beloved river and the beauty and history of Virginia with her family. She delighted in taking her grandchildren to Virginia’s amusement parks, touring historic sites with them, and playing in the waves with them at the beach.

Ida was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Rachel Schreiner; brothers Gilbert and Norman Schreiner; sister, Mildred Schreiner; and husband Robert S. (Bob) Gallimore.

She is survived by her brother Kenneth Schreiner; sister Ruth Wheaton; children, Robert S. (Steve) Gallimore, Jr. of Kilmarnock, Gary S. Gallimore and wife, Karen, of Kansas City, grandchildren Robert G. Gallimore, George Andrew (Andy) Gallimore, Molly Claxton; and great-grandchild Adelaide Claxton.

Ida was a generous and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is greatly missed.
